San Antonio opens voucher program to help low-income residents buy e-bikes

The city of San Antonio will award $1,000 vouchers to a select number of low-income residents to purchase “electric bikes” or e-bikes through a new pilot program.

The eco-friendly bikes are equipped with rechargeable batteries and small electric motors, which help bike riders travel at faster speeds and for longer distances.

The city’s Office of Sustainability will award up to 244 such vouchers to qualified, low-income applicants who will be randomly selected from a lottery system…
