U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently made news when he said people with autism “will never pay taxes, they’ll never hold a job, they’ll never play baseball, they’ll never write a poem, they’ll never go on a date.”
Kennedy apparently has never met Steven Melendez, who traveled the country playing soccer with the Special Olympics in 2022 and, later this summer, will play softball and floorball with SAFIRE (San Antonio Fitness, Independent and Recreational Environment).
