24-year-old suspect identified after SAPD shooting outside north-side restaurant, officials say

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police have identified the suspect who allegedly stole a pair of scissors from a north-side restaurant before attacking an officer outside the business last Friday afternoon.

SAPD responded to Thai Hut in the area of North Loop 1604 and Bitters around noon, where Chief William McManus said an officer had tried to talk to 24-year-old Sheldon Butts before the officer “broke off that conversation and walked back into the business.”

Butts returned at some point, McManus said, and when the officer tried to speak with him once more Butts attacked him. The officer at one point tried to “control” the suspect with pepper spray, but it apparently was ineffective…
