AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is launching its annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign to promote seat belt use and enforce compliance with state laws.
The campaign, which runs from May 19 through June 1, will see TxDOT partnering with law enforcement agencies across Texas to focus on ticketing drivers who fail to buckle up or secure their children in car seats.
According to TxDOT, wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of dying in a crash by 45% for front-seat passengers in cars and by up to 60% for those in pickup trucks. Despite these statistics, 1,069 unbuckled people died in crashes in Texas in 2024…
