A South Texas man has been sentenced to 120 years in prison for kidnapping and holding for ransom undocumented immigrants he helped bring into the country, federal officials say.
Joshua Lee Balderas, 34, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to kidnap and two counts of harboring undocumented immigrants, causing serious bodily injury and placing the life of a person in jeopardy, according to federal officials and court documents.
During his trial, prosecutors presented evidence showing that Balderas was involved in bringing seven undocumented immigrants into the country.
