When one saloon door closes, another one opens. Such is the case at 2617 Wagon Wheel, the former address of Rod Dog’s Saloon, a bar on San Antonio’s Northeast Side that disappeared sometime in the last year. Now, a new saloon is rising in its place, bringing all kinds of games and entertainment to the revamped space.
Big Easy Saloon is currently in its soft open period, but signs are up and the lights are on at the budding business. Austin-based company Big Easy Entertainment is behind the concept, which has multiple locations throughout Texas.
The new bar is partly a game room, partly an arcade intended to provide adult customers with hours of fun, with offerings like darts, pool, Skee-Ball, arcade games and, eventually, live music. Big Easy Saloon also has numerous sweepstakes games, casino-style games that are free to play.
MySA visited the new San Antonio outpost recently to check things out, and a manager told us that Big Easy Saloon’s soft open period will go on for a few more weeks, culminating in a grand opening on Saturday, August 9. While in the space, we noted ample seating, television screens, brightly lit games lining the walls of the room and a couple of nostalgic arcade classics, like Marvel vs. Capcom and The Simpsons.
Big Easy Saloon is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., according to a Facebook post from the business…
