At around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the hum of traffic along the far West Side corridor of U.S. Highway 90 was shattered by the crack of gunfire. Officers arriving at the 9700 block discovered a 17-year-old male behind the wheel of a vehicle, blood splattered on the driver’s side door and windshield. The teen had been shot once in the cheek as he recorded what he believed was just another bout of aggressive driving on San Antonio’s busiest thoroughfares.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the victim had his phone raised toward a white sedan that had followed his car after a minor fender-bender. “He was trying to document the encounter,” the department said in its preliminary report, “when the driver of the other vehicle produced a handgun and fired”.
