Tropical wave of low pressure to send downpours into South Texas. Here’s when.

A tropical wave of atmospheric moisture, circulating around a weak center of low pressure, has traversed the northern Gulf of Mexico and is set to move into Southeast Texas on Friday. Even though the system hasn’t strengthened into a tropical storm, the disorganized tropical disturbance will send moisture-rich air into the Lone Star State.

The incoming moisture and resulting rainfall will be focused along the Gulf Coast and Coastal Plains on Friday. By Saturday, areas farther inland, like San Antonio, will have an opportunity for scattered tropical downpours. Here’s a preview of the next few days.

Friday’s forecast

While rain will start along the Texas coast, San Antonio will have a quiet start to Friday with morning temperatures in the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies. Temps will rise steadily through the first half of the day, reaching 90 degrees by around noon.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected to continue through the afternoon, which will help ease daytime temps by about 5 degrees from where they topped out on Thursday. San Antonio will likely sit near 95 degrees by the late afternoon…
