The newly sworn-in San Antonio City Councilwoman facing a drunken driving charge has been assigned her first court date, and has hired an attorney familiar with her charge. Ivalis Meza Gonzalez, who has represented District 8 for a little more than a month, will go before a judge on Aug. 25.
Gonzalez was pulled over on Thursday night, July 24, but it would be roughly 10 hours before she was booked into the Bexar County Jail after refusing to give a blood draw, officials said. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released a couple hours later, posting bail by 12:10 p.m. the next day
According to a blood draw warrant obtained by MySA, a San Antonio Police Department officer, simply identified as Quiroga, conducted a traffic stop on Gonzalez at around 11 p.m. Thursday.
