On Saturday evening, August 9th, Atascosa County Deputies responded to a possible burglary in the 5300 block of FM 541, a location with a history of break-ins. While searching the rural property on foot, deputies spotted Roman Gomez, 39, of San Antonio, attempting to flee by driving a pickup truck with a trailer through a fence.
Gomez led deputies on a high-speed chase west on FM 541, then north on IH-37 toward Pleasanton. Deputies and Texas DPS units used spike strips multiple times along the route, including at FM 541 and IH-37, Hwy 281 near Pleasanton, and Loop 410 in San Antonio, flattening several tires. Despite the damage, Gomez continued driving on the rims.
The chase ended near Loop 410 and Presa when Gomez crashed after hitting a DPS trooper’s vehicle. He then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by an Atascosa County deputy…
