High pressure loosens its grip; South Texas temps are set to fall on Sunday

Over the last several days, South Texas has been under a stubborn high-pressure system, keeping temperatures consistently above average with plenty of sunshine.

From Aug. 6–9, San Antonio’s high temperature reached 99 or 100 degrees each day – about 2 to 3 degrees warmer than typical for early to mid-August.

That pattern will start to change on Sunday. As the high pressure weakens and shifts westward, temperatures will drop back to near or slightly below average. Small rain chances will also return to the region. Here’s what to expect.

Comfortable conditions are expected early Sunday morning, with patchy clouds and temperatures holding in the mid- to upper 70s through about 9 a.m. By late morning, cloud cover will thin, allowing temperatures to climb into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees by noon…
