SAN ANTONIO — A jury found Derrick Coles guilty on several counts of injury to a child on Thursday, following the tragic death of his 12-year-old son, Danilo.
Coles was arrested in February 2022 after police discovered Danilo passed out and unresponsive in an apartment on the Northwest Side. Danilo was rushed to the hospital, where Doctors later determined the boy was brain dead.
Authorities accused Coles of forcing Danilo to perform strenuous physical activities, including push-ups and holding 50-pound boxes, before investigators said he was brutally beaten to death. According to police, Danilo had recently moved in with his father and stepmother from Chicago…
