After spending weeks underwater, ancient dinosaur tracks — dating back to 104 million years ago — have reemerged at Government Canyon State Natural Area in San Antonio, according to a Facebook post from park staff on Thursday, August 14.
The area was overgrown and mucky due to flooding, according to officials. However, after summer interns and resource rangers worked on the area, the tracks are visible again at the Northwest park located at 12861 Galm Rd, San Antonio, TX 78254.
Before the water dried up, tiny tadpoles lived in the pool of water. Park staff have noted that hikers should watch their step when in the area, as tiny froglets are hopping all along the trail.

Along the Joe Johnston Trail in the Backcountry area, you’ll find the dinosaur tracks. Before you go, remember the hike to the tracks is a 5-mile round trip, according to park staff. You’ll need at least 32 oz of water per person per hour. The hike typically lasts 2-3 hours…
