Prosecutors say he killed the H-E-B ‘deli lady.’ Retrial begins this week.

Nearly a decade after a beloved H-E-B deli worker was killed in her Northwest Side apartment, the suspect in her case finally is heading back to trial.

Jury selection in the retrial for R.C. Curtis, 40, was scheduled for Monday. Curtis is charged with capital murder in connection with the death of 75-year-old Paula Mendez Boyd.

Testimony in the trial is expected to start Tuesday in the 187th District Court with Judge Stephanie Boyd presiding. The trial is expected to last five days…
