The Baked Bird back in action after literal dumpster fire causes power outage

The Baked Bird, a new breakfast joint on the Northwest Side, was shuttered all day Friday after a garbage truck slammed into a power line, causing a small fire and knocking out electricity.

But a day later, the restaurant is “rocking and rolling” again, co-owner Matt Zdeb said Saturday.

At around 6:30 a.m. Friday morning, a trash truck hit a low power line as it was approaching the restaurant’s dumpsters, co-owner Jen Zdeb said. The collision ripped the power line from the building, sending flames up the side of the building and melting fuse boxes…
