Disguised Thief Swipes High-End Bags from San Antonio’s Louis Vuitton Store as SAPD Seeks Leads

The Shops at LaCantera in San Antonio, Texas, have become the latest backdrop for a brazen robbery after a man in disguise made off with multiple high-end bags from the Louis Vuitton store. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reported that the theft occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, a mere half-hour before the store was scheduled to close, as per a preliminary report from SAPD reflected in coverage by KSAT.

According to the store manager’s statement to police, and surveillance footage that has gone viral on social media, the suspect was disguised with a long black wig and a black face mask. He began his heist by cutting the bags from their security tethers with wire cutters. It is reported that he made away with roughly seven bags, which could each carry a price tag reaching thousands of dollars. Dressed in a blue jacket, beige sweat pants, and wielding a wire cutter, the man’s actions were recorded in a 22-second clip by a bystander and has since been circulated widely. “Oh no … Don’t do that,” a woman is audibly heard lamenting in the background of the video – a voice from within the store as the scene unfolded.

This act of theft is being reviewed intensively, as authorities have not yet been able to identify the man involved.
