Iconic San Antonio BBQ joint closes longtime cafe permanently this week

It’s the end of an era for a San Antonio barbecue spot. Bill Miller Bar-B-Q is shutting the doors to its downtown headquarter’s public-facing restaurant one final time this week. It marks the finale of over 50 years at that site, which sits in eye view of the Alamodome and Tower of the Americas.

The barbecue and breakfast taco staple announced the restaurant’s last day of business as Friday, September 12. The restaurant, which is located at 430 S. Santa Rosa Ave., has served as its home base since 1971. Over the years, the company became a go-to spot for the 9-to-5 crowd and parents deep in the rhythm of the back-to-school grind.
