San Antonio police officer suspended for striking suspect, delaying the man’s medical care

San Antonio police officer Eloy E. Cuellar Jr. served a 15-day unpaid suspension over allegations he used unnecessary force on a suspect, verbally abused him, then delayed seeking medical care for the man, city documents show.

On March 1, Cuellar and other SAPD personnel tried to arrest a man around the 800 block of North Alamo Street for public intoxication and placed him in handcuffs, according to disciplinary records.

In their report, police officials said the man resisted arrest. Body-cam footage showed Cuellar strike the suspect approximately six times in the face with a closed fist while shouting, “Shut up, bitch … . Shut the fuck up.”…
