Hybrid Tundra sales surge as San Antonio-built Toyotas recover from August slump

Sales of Toyota Motor Corp.’s San Antonio-manufactured models rebounded slightly in September after struggling in August — with its electrified Tundra pickup seeing another massive sales jump ahead of the expiration of a federal EV tax credit.

Overall, Toyota’s North American division sales increased 14% with 185,748 cars sold, with some models manufactured at the Japanese automaker’s South Side plant also improving. Electrified vehicle sales were up 8.1%.

Among its San Antonio-built models, the hybrid-powered Tundra was the standout by growth rate. Sales of the full-size pickup jumped 91.9% from a year ago to 2,637, up from 1,374 in August 2024…
