Hundreds waited hours for opening of new Trader Joe’s in San Antonio

Hundreds of shoppers lined up for the grand opening of the new Trader Joe’s location in San Antonio on Tuesday, November 4. Located on the city’s Northwest Side, the 9,600-square-foot store is now the third Trader Joe’s in San Antonio.

The California-based grocer opened its doors at its Huebner Oaks spot around 9 a.m. However, that didn’t stop locals from arriving early. Katherine Suggs, 59, showed up about three hours before it opened and snagged the first spot in a line that grew longer and longer Tuesday morning. Many shoppers in line told MySA that they are excited to have a Trader Joe’s closer to them.

“We are big Trader Joe’s fans, and we are so thrilled that it’s in our neighborhood now. We love the products, the convenience, and the pricing,” Iris De La Rosa, 72, said, adding she will be shopping at Trader Joe’s more than her local H-E-B due to its unique items.

Store manager Hrag Kozanian greeted the line of customers and thanked them all for waiting before cutting a red ribbon with giant scissors. When the doors swung open, shoppers were given leis and a raffle ticket, the winner of which would receive a basket of Trader Joe’s products. It wasn’t long before the aisles grew crowded with shoppers who had carts filled with Trader Joe’s classics, such as flowers, Mandarin Orange Chicken, Chili & Lime Flavored Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips and more…
