City plans review of street where driver killed woman on porch; Records show 2 previous crashes

City officials now plan to conduct a traffic safety review on the street where earlier this week, a driver lost control on a curve and crashed into a woman’s home, killing her. Crash records show it wasn’t the first time a car crashed onto her property.

Janice Walker, 70, was retired and took care of her mother at a home in the 100 block of Dafoste Avenue, located in the Coliseum-Willow Park neighborhood on the East Side. The house is situated along a sharp curve in the road.

Walker was sitting on the porch around 11 p.m. Tuesday night when a Mercedes Benz sedan heading southbound on Dafoste Avenue lost control on the curve and drove into her home, according to a preliminary police report…
