‘Life-changing’: Another TV personality departs Central Texas screens

The TV news landscape in Texas is constantly shuffling, with reporters and anchors leaving the air and making their debuts left and right. Another familiar face, who left Central Texans’ TV screens back in October, has just filled folks in on what she’s up to now.

A native of El Paso and a graduate of San Antonio’s University of the Incarnate Word, Abigail Velez was with CBS Austin for a little over two years. During that time, she covered a home explosion in Leander, the deadly flooding that swept through Central Texas in July, the Texas House Democrats breaking quorum in August and much more.

She told MySA her time at UIW, CBS Austin and a stint as a reporter in North Carolina — as well as being crowned Miss San Antonio USA in 2022 — have all prepared her for the next chapter. Her last day on air in Central Texas was October 23, and she began her new position as a fill-in anchor and reporter at ABC7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles on November 10…
