It has been 27 years since the flood of ’98. October 20, 2025, marked the anniversary of the flood that took many of us by surprise. If you remember back, 30-plus inches of rain fell upriver in San Marcos and New Braunfels, which caused the Guadalupe River to crest at a historic high that has not been seen since. Those flood waters had me carrying my stove across a flooded Water St. in 1998.
