Fish, ducks and geese keep dying at a privately-owned lake on the Northeast Side, prompting an investigation by state wildlife officials, according to news reports.
Residents who live near Northern Hills Lake, which is overseen by Acadia on the Lake Apartments, told KENS 5 that dead fish started appearing at the top of the lake early this summer. Then, ducks and geese started dying, too, residents said.
The sightings of dead wildlife started in the summer after white egrets arrived at the lake. They were chased away by the arrival of cormorant birds, which covered the lake and the area around it with their droppings, one resident told the news station…
