Pre-Dawn Road Rage Chaos On San Antonio’s Near Northeast Side Ends In Gunfire And A Bust

A pre-dawn road-rage clash on San Antonio’s Near Northeast Side ended with two wrecked vehicles, reports of gunfire and a man detained, police said. The confrontation unfolded before sunrise Saturday in the 1500 block of North New Braunfels Avenue, as reported by News4SanAntonio.

Crash and early reports

Officers were dispatched around 5:15 a.m. to the 1500 block of North New Braunfels Avenue, where they found a black BMW and a gray Ford F-150, according to News4SanAntonio. The BMW’s 18-year-old driver told police that a 23-year-old man in the F-150 was road-raging and intentionally tried to crash into him, clipping the BMW and causing it to wreck.

Witnesses say suspect carried a long gun

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the man get out of the gray pickup and run in the same direction as the BMW driver while holding what appeared to be a long gun, KSAT reported. The BMW driver also told officers he heard what sounded like gunshots before he ran from the area.

Detention and vehicle details

San Antonio police detained a suspect at or near the location and found him carrying a weapon light, but no firearm was recovered from him at that time, according to News4SanAntonio.
