Arctic cold front will crash through Texas this weekend. Here’s when temps drop.

A strong low-pressure system is expected to dive across the Midwest Saturday night and into Sunday, and it will send truly arctic air to portions of the northern U.S. Wind chill temperatures may fall to as low as 30 degrees below zero across parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas.

It won’t be nearly that cold in Texas, but the state will experience a glancing blow from the arctic weather system. A cold front will stall across parts of North Texas on Saturday, likely to plow through the entire state by Sunday. Here’s the latest on when temps will drop, and how cold they’ll get.

Saturday’s forecast

Before the cold front arrives in San Antonio by Sunday, you can expect mild, muggy conditions throughout Saturday. Morning temps will start well above-average for mid-December, in the low 60s. A few showers and weak storms may also develop across the region, but rain chances will only be around 20%.

Patchy dense fog is expected to develop between 4 and 9 a.m. Visibility could drop to under a quarter-mile at times, so if you do have to travel, do so cautiously. Reduce your speed and leave extra space between yourself and the cars around you…
