A San Antonio man has been indicted in connection with a shooting at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in South Texas, court records show. The incident left two people dead and five others injured. Keryan Rashad Jones, 34, has been indicted on two counts of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, KSAT reports. The indictment was issued on December 2. The shooting occurred just after midnight on September 27 at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino on Lucky Eagle Drive near the U.S.-Mexico border. Jones was arrested in late September following a multi-county pursuit by law enforcement.
At the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino around 3:22 a.m. on September 28, Jones is accused of carrying out the attack that killed Marcus Antley, a retired U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, and Alicia Sanchez, a Dimmit County resident. He fled the scene, prompting an extensive manhunt before his arrest, according to Fox San Antonio.
Maverick County’s Justice of the Peace confirmed that Jones’ bond was set at $5.1 million due to the severity of the alleged crimes. The five people injured in the shooting were taken to medical facilities in Eagle Pass and San Antonio. The casino reopened six days later, on October 3.
