An armed robbery outside a northeast side hookah lounge ended in gunfire early Sunday morning, but deputies say the victim escaped without injury even as bullets tore into the car.

Around 5:15 a.m., Bexar County deputies responded to reports of a robbery in the parking lot of a hookah lounge at the corner of Binz-Engleman Road and Mystic Sunrise Drive. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office told News 4 San Antonio that unknown suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint, then opened fire on the victim’s vehicle as they took off.
Deputies say the car was hit multiple times, but the victim was not hurt. The suspects drove away in what the victim described as a dark-colored pickup truck. They remain on the run.
