Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones is asking Gov. Greg Abbott to reconsider his veto of a state budget measure that would have provided summer lunch to low-income kids.
“This decision directly impacts the most vulnerable residents of my city and our state,” Jones said in a Monday letter to Abbott.
Abbott in June vetoed a $60 million budget measure that would have allowed Texas to participate in the federal government’s Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer program.
