SAN ANTONIO — Well-known radio personality and former KENS 5 weatherman Jud Ashmore has passed away at the age of 101, according to the San Antonio Radio Hall of Fame.
According to his biography from the Radio Hall of Fame, Jud joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific, and developed his love of radio by listening to the wartime radio broadcasts. After going to college, Ashmore joined the U.S. Air Force as a meteorologist in 1950, during the Korean War.
He joined the KSAT news team as a meteorologist and later, joined KENS 5 in 1972. In 1974, he teamed up with fellow radio legend Ricci Ware for a morning show on KBUC Radio. After doing both jobs for a bit, he left TV and devoted himself to the radio show…
