Noodle Tree, a popular and award-winning ramen shop on the Northwest Side near the University of Texas at San Antonio, is closing so that its owner, Chef Mike Nguyen, can concentrate on his health while battling blood cancer.
Nguyen announced on the restaurant’s Instagram page last week that its last day of operation would be January 11 — seven years to the day after it opened, he said.
“I probably should have made this decision six months ago, honestly,” he said in the post. “As defiant as I am, I kept pushing my body, and now it’s making the decision for me. As Roberto Durán once said, ‘No más, no más,’ and that’s what my body is screaming at me right now.”…
