A man has died following a shooting at a motel on San Antonio’s south side. The incident, which took place at the Sunrise Motel located in the 4500 block of South Presa Street, led to 39-year-old Daniel Mendoza being shot in the head, KSAT reports. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, Mendoza was taken to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Mendoza was found unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds after police arrived on the scene around 9:20 p.m. Saturday, as stated by KSAT. Witnesses reportedly told police that Mendoza was in an “altercation” with an unidentified individual just before the shooting occurred. What may have led to this deadly confrontation still remains unclear.
The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) has not yet made any arrests in connection to the shooting and the suspect is still at large.
