S.A. woman sues VIA police, claims excessive force in Whataburger incident

A San Antonio woman has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against VIA Metropolitan Transit’s police force, claiming that an officer apprehended and struck her in a Whataburger drive-thru north of downtown because he mistakenly thought she was driving a stolen vehicle.

The officer, Brandon Tamayo, is also a defendant in the lawsuit, filed in September in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
