Councilmembers clash over $170k rainbow sidewalks, citing fiscal misuse and bigotry

SAN ANTONIO — Tensions on the San Antonio City Council have flared following the city’s decision to allocate approximately $170,000 from the Public Works budget for the installation of rainbow-colored sidewalks.

City Manager Erik Walsh informed Mayor Jones and the city council Tuesday that local attorney Justin Nichols, representing both Pride SA and the Texas Conservative Liberty Forum, intends to file a lawsuit against the city. The legal action seeks to prevent the city from removing existing painted crosswalks and to stop the planned painting of sidewalks.
