The 10 best San Antonio restaurants for seniors

A friend’s mom recently asked me where she and her girlfriends could get a nice lunch or dinner at a restaurant with a talent for accommodating older diners. Senior diners. Maybe your mom and dad. Or your grandparents, depending on which letter defines your generation. Whichever way you want to say it that won’t come across the wrong way.

Something nice, she said, a place that wouldn’t be out of place on any Top 10 list, regardless of your age. Restaurants with good food, reasonable noise levels and a staff that takes care of seniors without making them feel self-conscious about it. I should say that she and her friends still get around just fine, and they’re OK with driving out of their way. Think “The Golden Girls” and sort out who’s Bea Arthur and which one’s Blanche.

I should also say that I’ll let you define what “senior” means without my help. I’m not defensive about it or anything, but let me put it this way: Around my birthday a few years back, I posted this to social media: “Just noticed my restaurant receipt reflects a 10% senior citizen discount for ages 60 and up. I’m not; nobody asked. This is why Daddy drinks in the afternoon.”…
