North Side Music Video Party Ends in Fatal Shooting

San Antonio police are again asking for the public’s help in a North Side killing that turned a summer music video shoot into a crime scene. The victim, 24-year-old Jordan Burleson, was shot as he stepped outside a short-term rental where friends and family had been filming, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives say the gunman took off in a vehicle, and more than a year later the case is still open.

This week, the San Antonio Police Department and Crime Stoppers renewed their call for witnesses and information. Investigators say the shooting happened in the early morning hours of July 31, 2024, and that they have been chasing leads ever since. As reported by KABB, with additional coverage from KSAT.

How Investigators Say The Shooting Unfolded

According to Crime Stoppers, the case (SAPD24165218) centers on the 4600 block of Hawthorn Woods, where Burleson walked outside as the gathering was winding down and was hit by rifle fire. The agency’s summary states that a passenger in a silver Dodge Charger opened fire from inside the car, and detectives say a second vehicle, a white Dodge Charger, might also have been involved. Investigators say the shooter was gone by the time officers locked down the area.

Standoff At The Scene And Victim Identification

The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jordan Benjamin Burleson, 24, and neighbors told reporters the house was being used as a short-term rental. Police say SWAT negotiators were called in after several partygoers barricaded themselves inside the property, which was later cleared so officers could interview people who had been at the shoot.
