A classroom video showing a kiss between a Warren High School teacher’s aide and a 16-year-old student has led to a felony arrest and a fast-moving investigation inside Northside Independent School District.
George Rene Aguilar Jr., 32, was taken into custody after the video surfaced and investigators said he and the student had multiple interactions in which he discussed “marriage and children,” according to News 4 San Antonio. The outlet reports Aguilar was hired by Northside ISD as a substitute in 2014 and later as an instructional assistant in October 2018. He now faces a felony charge of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.
What the charge means under Texas law
Texas Penal Code §21.12 makes an improper relationship between an educator and a student a second-degree felony, punishable by two to 20 years in prison and fines up to $10,000, according to Justia. The statute also notes limited affirmative defenses and instructs schools to report allegations and cooperate with law enforcement during investigations.
District response and investigation
In a statement to News 4 San Antonio, an NISD spokesperson said: “Late last week, Warren HS administration was advised of a serious allegation involving the staff member and took immediate action by launching an investigation in coordination with NISD Employee Relations and the NISD Police Department. The staff member was placed on administrative leave effective Jan. 16, 2026. NISD has filed all necessary reports with relevant agencies, including Child Protective Services (CPS) and the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). We are cooperating fully with these authorities to ensure a thorough and complete investigation.”
The district has not released further public details about the student’s condition or any upcoming court dates, keeping its public comments tightly focused on the investigation and required reports…
