Founder of popular Chinese SA restaurant Golden Wok dies at 87

SAN ANTONIO — The founder of one of San Antonio’s most popular Chinese restaurants has died, according to an online obituary.

Constance “Connie” L. Andrews died on Jan. 16 at the age of 87, peacefully at her home, her obituary on Mission Parks reads.

She founded Golden Wok in September of 1972 when she “dreamed of owning her own small Chinese restaurant,” according to the restaurant’s website. “It didn’t matter that she was not Asian, had no cooking experience and had never cooked on a Chinese stove before. What she had was determination, persistence, faith and the willingness to work 18-hour days.”…
