Men arrested after robbery of maintenance worker turned SWAT standoff at Medical Center apartment

Police have identified two suspects they say barricaded themselves inside a Medical Center apartment for hours last week after a maintenance worker was robbed at gunpoint.

Michael Aguirre, 53, is charged with aggravated robbery, criminal trespass and evading arrest in connection with the four-hour standoff Thursday. David Thurston, 53, is charged with criminal trespass and evading arrest.

The standoff began around 11 a.m. Thursday, when a maintenance worker at a vacant apartment complex in the 3500 block of Pin Oak Drive called police to report he had been robbed at gunpoint by two to three assailants…
