If you’ve ever driven on the Far Northside along Wilderness Oak, near the Canyon Springs Golf Club, you may have been surprised to spot what appears to be a record-breaking church beacon on an unassuming Baptist lot next to a school. Turns out, it’s actually a cross-topped cell tower full of Christian symbolism which kept the church out of dire financial straits.
Beyond the city limits as you creep into the Texas Hill Country or the towering walls of gated communities north of Stone Oak, your cell phone carrier plays a major role in whether your missing calls or hoping you remember how to get somewhere. Cell towers are quickly spreading outward from San Antonio’s city core to combat this, but they’re often an unsightly addition off highways or side streets.
