South Texas tonight: Cold front to send ‘feels like’ temps into the 20s and 30s

A cold front, which started to move through San Antonio on Friday, will push all the way through the region by midday Saturday. However, as the front sends drier air into the region, you won’t immediately notice a significant drop in temperatures. In fact, Saturday afternoon highs will actually be warmer than they were on Friday.

Finally, a surge of colder air will arrive  at night, likely bringing the coldest temperatures South Texas has experienced in more than two weeks. While the region is expected to stay above the freezing mark Saturday night into early Sunday, wind chill values, or wind-driven “feels like” temperatures, will drop into the 20s and 30s across much of South Texas. Saturday’s forecast

Wind speeds will be light early in the morning, but will strengthen to around 15 mph by 10 a.m. These winds will send dry air into San Antonio, allowing mostly sunny skies to develop by the middle of the day.

With dry air and sunshine in place, temperatures will rise steadily throughout the day. Expect the afternoon to top out at 74 to 76 degrees in the San Antonio metro area, which would be well above average for late February.

Gusty winds are expected all day, coming in at 15 to 20 mph, with some gusts as strong as 30 mph. These robust winds, along with decreasing relative humidity values, dropping to around 20%, will result in near-critical wildfire danger throughout the area…
