A 50-degree temp swing coming to South Texas this week. Here’s a timeline.

Weather patterns during late February can bring a wide variety of conditions to Texas. Sometimes, strong cold fronts can bring freezing or near-freezing conditions. Other times, summer-like high pressure systems are capable of sending temperatures well into the 80s or even 90s across parts of South Texas.

This week, we’ll see both extremes. Early on, you won’t want to leave the house without wearing a coat or jacket. But by the middle of the week, temperatures are expected to climb dramatically – rising by as much as 50 degrees in some areas. Here’s a timeline of what you can expect.

San Antonio weather timeline

Chilly Monday: The coldest weather of the week is expected early Monday morning, as San Antonio temperatures will drop to around 36-38 degrees at around 7 a.m. The Hill Country will be even colder, with lows expected to fall slightly below freezing in cities such as Fredericksburg, Kerrville and Llano.

With bright sunshine expected throughout the day, temps will rise steadily. San Antonio will sit in the low 50s at 10 a.m., rising to around 60 degrees by noon. High temps by 3-4 p.m. are expected to reach 66 degrees – just a few degrees below the climate-average of 69 degrees for Feb. 23.

Warming Tuesday: Another chilly morning is expected Tuesday, as low temperatures dive into the low 40s to start the day. However, winds will shift direction and start to move into the region from the south, causing warmer air to move into South Texas…
