Tuesday at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo belongs to alt-country staple 49 Winchester, with the Virginia six-piece headlining Frost Bank Center while live music pops off all over the fairgrounds from afternoon into the late-night hours. If you are not bee-lining straight for the arena, local favorites and rising acts, from Marcy Grace at Roundup! to Tasman Sharp & the Ripsnorters in the Michelob Ultra Courtyard, give rodeo-goers plenty of excuses to linger stage-side.
According to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo schedule, 49 Winchester is slated to hit the Frost Bank Center stage after the 7 p.m. ranch rodeo performance, taking the arena spotlight as Tuesday’s main-stage act. The band has also lined up a new album, Change of Plans, set for release May 15, per 49 Winchester.
Fairgrounds stages to scope out
If you prefer to roam the grounds with a drink in hand, the side stages are stacked from early afternoon on. Tasman Sharp & the Ripsnorters are scheduled in the Michelob Ultra Courtyard for two rounds, 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. and again 9:30 to 11 p.m. Bill Goodge is on the calendar at the Stockman Wine Bar from 4 to 7 p.m., and Marcy Grace settles in for a marathon set at Roundup! from about 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Early birds can catch Kelly Kenning at the San Antonio Street Fair from 1 to 3 p.m., while night owls get Mark Odom at the H-E-B Wine Garden from 8:30 to 11 p.m., as reported by KENS 5.
Plan ahead: doors, parking and promos
Doors at Frost Bank Center typically open about 90 minutes before showtime, and the PRCA rodeo itself usually runs close to two hours, so the concert is expected to start shortly after the on-the-dirt action wraps.
