Man ‘disregarded’ red light at 75 mph and slammed into pregnant woman’s car, causing her to immediately go into labor and have a miscarriage, according to police

A 30-year-old man, Alexander Diaz Mendoza, is facing charges after allegedly causing the death of a pregnant woman’s unborn child in a drunk driving crash in San Antonio, Texas.

Mendoza is accused of running a red light while under the influence of alcohol, leading to the woman going into premature labor and miscarrying.

Drunk Driving Crash and Fatal Consequences

The collision occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the intersection of Woodlake Parkway and Binz-Engleman Road in San Antonio. According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Mendoza ran a red light and struck the vehicle of a pregnant woman, causing her to go into labor and ultimately miscarry the baby.

Sheriff Salazar stated in a video on Facebook, “That vehicle had a pregnant mother inside. As a result of the accident and the injuries she sustained, she actually went into labor and ended up miscarrying the baby.”

Charges and Investigation
