Fatal bus shooting in San Antonio halted by off-duty officer

A San Antonio man was detained by an off-duty officer on Friday, after the fatal shooting of another individual on the city’s West Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

At around 3:40 p.m. on Friday, February 27, authorities were called to the intersection of Zarzamora Street and West Commerce Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, preliminary information released by the department stated that witnesses saw some kind of verbal altercation between the two men as they were exiting a bus.

As their argument continued to intensify, the suspect, a 26-year-old man, allegedly drew a firearm on the other man before firing off several rounds at him. Witnesses at the scene say he fired off at least four shots before running across the street.
