Wave of moves at Texas stations leads to major TV personality switch-ups

Another month, another round of shake-ups at Texas TV stations — and in February, many of them came from right here in San Antonio.

KSAT 12 announces major morning lineup shuffle

On February 2, KSAT 12 announced changes to its morning lineup, set to take effect a month to the day. David Elder’s popular food show, Texas Eats, will expand, airing from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday on top of its usual 10 a.m. Saturday morning slot and Sunday reruns at 10:30 p.m. Additionally, SA Live will come directly after Texas Eats on weekdays, airing from 10:30 to 11 a.m., and Good Morning San Antonio will kick off the string of weekday programs at 9 a.m.

Viewers will see the changes on Monday, March 2.

Nick Canizales moves into evening anchor role at East Texas station

Out in East Texas, Nick Canizales moved into the evening anchor chair at 12News in Beaumont. He first took to the desk on February 2, and he told MySA his journey in TV had finally come “full circle.”

More than two decades ago, Canizales was a college student starting at 12News as a production assistant and master control operator, later becoming a photographer. After stints at Beaumont station KBTV and KCEN in Waco, Canizales returned to 12News in 2020 as the Daybreak anchor. He was offered his new role after the previous evening anchor took a teaching spot at Lamar University…
