Downtown I-35 Horror As Car Plunges Off San Antonio Overpass, Killing Woman

Midday traffic through downtown San Antonio turned tragic Saturday when a 27-year-old woman was killed after her car flew off the upper level of Interstate 35 and crashed onto the lower decks near the San Pedro Avenue exit. The wreck happened around 1:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes near N. Main Avenue. Police said the Honda she was driving drifted over a curb and off the roadway, dropping from the upper level onto the lower stretch of I-35. Emergency crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene, and lanes in the area were shut down while first responders worked, leading to heavy delays through the downtown ramps, as reported by News 4 San Antonio.

According to News 4 San Antonio, the San Antonio Police Department confirmed the sequence of events, saying the car went over the curb before falling to the lower level. The victim’s name has not been released. Crews closed portions of both the upper and lower levels of I-35 while investigators documented the scene and cleanup was completed.
