North Star Mall has seen some interesting changes to its lineup in recent years, with new food court stands, a Japanese arcade and a new Brazilian brewery concept launching in recent years. Now, it appears a Chinese hot pot chain is bringing a new all-you-can-eat barbecue concept to the San Antonio shopping hub.
Chubby Cattle BBQ has filed a construction project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which clues us in to certain details about the incoming restaurant. The filing said that it will cost an estimated $800,000 to renovate an 8,000 square-foot space. It also said the construction timeline will run from May 20, 2026 to February 17, 2027, so it’s unlikely the new Chubby Cattle will open any time soon.
Chubby Cattle BBQ offers an all-you-can-eat wagyu steak experience with multiple tiers that include American, Australian and Japanese wagyu beef, which customers can prepare themselves using table grills. The chain is also known for its Chinese hot pot.
