Hot chicken chain brings extreme spice levels to San Antonio area

Angry Chickz, a California-based Nashville hot chicken chain, is eyeing San Antonio for its ongoing Texas expansion, with a location planned for a developing part of the city. The chain offers an assortment of heat levels for its chicken, including one that is so spicy, you’ll have to sign a waiver to try it.

A new project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation showed that Angry Chickz is planned for Commons at Tezel Road, a retail site that is going up near the intersection of Tezel Road and New Guilbeau Road on the Northwest Side. The filing indicated that construction of the Nashville hot chicken restaurant will run from April 1, 2026 to July 1, 2026 with an estimated cost of $500,000 to build.

Like other similar chains, Angry Chickz specialized in Nashville hot chicken, which is notable for its heat level and often reddish color that results from its spicy coating. In the case of Angry Chickz, the heat goes from country mild to angry hot, the latter of which requires a waiver before trying. The company even has a web version of the waiver that customers can fill out prior to visiting an Angry Chickz.
