SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 26-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in prison Friday for the murder of his partner, an 81-year-old man, in San Antonio.
Judge Kristina Escalona, presiding in the 186th District Court, sentenced Alberto Ferrer Cabrera to serve time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the killing of Donald Atha Weynandt.
Authorities said the crime came to light on Feb. 1, 2025, when Cabrera confessed to a 911 dispatcher, his landlord, and responding detectives that he had killed Weynandt, his partner and common-law husband.
